ROGERS, Ark., July 17, 2015 – Ozark Mountain Poultry (OMP), a vertically integrated poultry company based in Rogers, Ark., announced today the purchase of a 1.5 million bushel capacity grain elevator located in Newport, AR.
The purchase ties into OMP’s goal of sourcing all of the grain used to produce feed for its poultry growers from farms within a 150-mile radius of its Batesville complex. CEO Ed Fryar said the purchase will help the company control what its chickens are fed; and, by bringing OMP and farmers closer together, the facility will help lower costs for the company and provide more grain marketing alternatives for farmers.
“This facility fits well as a complement to our elevator located at Bay and our feed mill under construction at Magness,” said Dr. Ed Fryar, CEO, Ozark Mountain Poultry. “More importantly, it provides opportunities for corn farmers in the area by bringing another delivery point and competition to the marketplace.”
The facility will focus on buying and storing corn and will be open for business to receive corn during the 2015 harvest. Those interested in grain selling opportunities should contact the facility’s General Manager, David Williams, at (870) 834-5050.
